Hi Everyone,
Thank you so much for the feedback, especially from Jimmy and Kaye. Very interesting. I am amazed at your knowledge.
I wanted to add that I have an additional leads for the following individuals that may be of interest and help in further verifying facts:
1. Raphe MOBBERLEY- *Born 1550 Norton in the Moors
married to UNKNOWN, Ann
2. John MOBBERLEY, born *1580 Oldswinford, Worcestershire married to Margaret UNKNOWN born 1644 and died December, 1681.
Margaret Mobberley, daughter - listed in BBC as born abt 1645 and christened on 9th of February, 1645 St Mary, Oldswinford. (Possibly the twin sister of Issaber (misspelled?) MOBBERLEY as they were christened on the same day with the same father John listed ?)
Kaye shows that John was living with daughters Isabell and Margaret in 1666.
I have the following:
"John Mobberley, the elder, Isabell Mobberley, Margaret Mobberley. Property:Tenement and land near the Lye in the parish of Oldswinford, on the lane leading from Saltbrooke towards Careless Greene and the lane from Waste Hayes Common.. [Birmingham Date: 1666
** I believe this Margaret MOBBERLEY married a Thomas ARCH on the 31st of November 1669 in Oldswinford.
(Even though November should have 30 days)
3. I have Sarah SKELDING's death in February, 1715 Oldswinford
and her parent's listed as SKELDING, William b. 1639 m. UNKNOWN, Alice. (and his father SKELDING, Francis, 1607)
4. I have Thomas MOBBERLEY born 1776 and death on 23rd, September, 1841 at Whittymore, Worcestershire
5. I have his son Thomas MOBBERLEY, born ABT 1813 and death on 29th of May, 1863 and his wife Ann RUSHTON's place of birth as Ashwood, Ridge Hill Staffs. in 1814.
Finally, I come to Samuel Rushton Mobberley, born in 1836 at Kingswinford. He died in New Zealand on Sept. 8th, 1885 at the age of 47. (online historical BDM records for NZ)
For your interest- in the Auckland Star, Volume XXVI, Issue 140, 22 June 1885, Page 2 - an arrest was made for the assaulting of Samuel Mobberley 'an old man' in Chapel Street who was 'very much injured'. Samuel was working as a groom at the time. He died 2 and a half months later at the 'old' age of 47! I wonder how much the blow to the head had to do with his demise?
Samuel's wife, Elizabeth Ann Mobberley died in New Zealand on May 26th, 1897 in Auckland, NZ at the age of 59. (online historical BDM records for NZ). This would make her birth date to be ABT 1838 in Stourbridge. Her parents are said to be Thomas Neil and Elizabeth Neil (sic) (source Mary Hollis/Avis Taylor).
REQUEST: I would appreciate any suggestions concerning how to clarify the birth details and parents of this Elizabeth.
One final question. Do you want confirmation of the additional children born to Samuel Rushton MOBBERLEY and Elizabeth Ann MOBBERLEY in New Zealand and Australia? How far down the line do you want to go on Black Country Connections? I have further documented information if you are interested in adding it.
Thanks again for all your assistance.
