just found this site dont know if there is anything on it with regards to hadley but there a lot of it if you wish to go through it great site though for history of brewries and pubs

there was a thomas hadley who was head master of round green school in 1892 and 1896 dont think this will be him but thought id mention it

Not sure if this helps or not - on the 1891 - District 7 Oldbury page 6 there's a family James Nicklin (blacksmith) living at #36 Talbot Street in brackets states British Lion, next entry # 37 Talbot Hotel -

but i think the school master in you post is the master of round green school in 1892 and 1896 directories

The Bird in Hand was just round the corner from Shidas Lane and was still there when i was a nipper.My cousin Gloria lived at the bottom of Shidas Lane and over the road was Rounds Green School!!
