Nursing in Australia became far more attractive after they introduced Nurses Aids.
The aids do many of he less pleasant tasks and free the Nurses to concentrate on the medical care of the patient under the orders of the treating doctors.
As for choosing your job based on your interesr, that is one thing I do not see very often even amongst my more modern cousins in England.
It still seems to me that place of birth, class and family tradition pick your vocation far more in the U.K than Australia.
That was what my father was hoping to avoid when he dragged us over here in the 1960's.
He hoped we could pick and choose what we wanted to be.
Having said that, my immediate cousins in England are more than happy with their lot in life and I have seen that throughout my Black Country ancestry.
