you can defend the islamic faith till the cows come home, but if an islamic clerk is not willing to denouce them because he in fear for his life then he should resign and let the mosques be shut down, as there are politician who spoke against the irish terrorists and put there lives on the line by doing so, i know of at less a few who paid the ultimite price with there lives so whats the different, i tell you, one willing to stand up for what he belives in, the other to scared ? or more likely agrees with what the terrorist stands for, so says nowt.

As I said, a Muslem Cleric who speaks out must basically give up being a cleric.

That is a lot to ask for when it would have zero impact on the terrorists.

Did Catholic or Protestant Clergy denounce the perpetrators of the Irish violence?

I don't think so, and for the same reasons.

Look at WW2 when the Catholic church helped some nazi's escape. I don´t think one religion is worse than another - there was a time when christians went round crusading and killing none believers. We have, up to a point, learned something along the way!
The only thing you can hope for is that other people learn from their mistakes and slowly things get better. But unfortunately there is probably a lot of "brain washing" going on. I couldn't imagine believing so much in a cause that I was willing to kill innocent people and maybe even myself!

not asking them to denouce terrorisum mark im asking for them to denouce the muslim fraction who burnt the poppies so if the cleric wont or carnt there plenty of other musilm leaders of the community that could have, none have as far as i know big difference mark asking them to condem burnig of poppies and condeming terrorist, unless you know somat we dont,
