Bishop's Castle tie up nicely too - it's now in Shropshire but only a stone's throw from the border and 10 miles from Montgomery and about the same from Kerry.

My next step is to see if I can tie William Cleaton in with Jane Cleaton (married Joseph Small 1798-1852). She was born in about 1796 in Montgomeryshire and died 5 March 1867 in Moxley, Staffs.

I have her at 2 Holyhead Rd in 1851, and Holyhead Rod, Moxley in 1861. I have her parents as William and Eleanor Cleaton (information as yet unconfimed from my aunt). Jane and Joseph were married 1st Jan 1821 at St Peter's Wolverhampton and had children Sarah (1826) and Ralph (1830) both christened St Lawrence Church in Darlaston.

I can't find them in 1841, and have not been able to confirm Jane's parents or birth. William is executor for Jane's will. So I'm asuming they are related somehow.

Can anyone help.
Thanks

Sue

That adds up, apart from I've no other record of a Joseph Small junior, and Joseph Small is down as coal miner on other census´s. The ages of the other children seem okay.

Thanks Di and Jimmy - I'll have to find out where my aunt got her info from - she's usually a stickler for proof, so I'm usually reasonably sure of her info, but try to confirm it for myself.

I'm thinking that the only way I can know for sure if William is related to Jane is to send off for Janes will - that must be the next step.
