I could imagine the first time you saw:

A crocodile.

Any of the dozen or so deadly snakes.

A Funnel Web Spider

A Red Back Spider

A Huntsmen Spider.

A Bull Ant

A Box Jelly fish. They are fun. They can kill you in two minutes and it is one of the most painfull ways to go.

A wild boar. I ahte them. I used to hunt them and they would hunt me at the same time.

Of course, getting used to every day being over 35 degrees and about 80% humidity would also be fun.

Strewth, you flamin pommie shiela's are a few sausages short of a barby if you don't know Bazza!

Fair dinkum, what is the world coming to when an Aussie legend is unknown in the Mother Country.

Fair suck of the sauce bottle! His full name was Barrington Bradman Bing McKenzie, nephew of Dame Edna Everage and he came over to England in the 1970's to claim his inheritance.

He found it hard to communicate with upper class twits who were mystified by our native tongue.

So I will help you with some of the more common phrases.

"Point Percy at the porcelain" = "Shake hands with my wife's best friend" = go to the loo

"technicolour yawn" = "drive the porcelain bus" = "worship the porcelain god called Ralph" = vomit.

"Sink the sausage" = "explore the map of Tasmania" = have nookie.

That the kind of reaction I see when a non-aussie watches one of the Barry McKenzie movies.

He is a character created in England that is supposed to represent the worst kind of cliche Australian male.

Well before anybody thought all Aussies were like Crocodile Dundee they thought we were all Bazza McKenzies and that we all spoke Strine (the official term for Australian slang.)

Whatever it is, I seem to have caught something too.

I'm vomiting, got a fever, constant headache, joint pain. Not exactly the best state to go to a job interview in, I'll happily admit that.

When is the interview?

It was yesterday morning. I still went to it, somehow managed to pull myself together for an hour.

It definitely was worth going though, as I was offered the job within a couple of hours of the interview.
