There is not a George Honey anywhere in 1861 or 1871 with a father George.

I think what Jimmy has posted all fits together, and fits with the marriage which you have on the IGI.

The marriage you have:

Marriage Date: 26 Apr 1879
Marriage Place: St. John Baptist, Hulme (Near Manchester), Lancashire, England

Groom's Name: George Honey
Groom's Birth Date: 1858
Bride's Name: Mary Williams
Bride's Birth Date: 1856
Groom's Father's Name: George Barnes Honey
Bride's Father's Name: George Williams.

I think you may have to order the marriage cert for this marriage, to see what the fathers occupation was and any other details.

Lancashire Marriage 1879.
HONEY George, WILLIAMS Mary, Manchester, Hulme, St. John the Baptist, Manchester, 67/1/345,

.

I'll send off a request to the GRO to see if they can send me the marriage certificate.

One thing I could try is a visit to the local archive, as they have the parish records for st john the baptist, hulme. From what I've been able to determine, that parish closed in 1952, so all the records have been transferred to the council.

If you can see the entry at the archive then you don't need to bother with the certificate as it should be the same information I think.
