I thought Robbie Bashing was a sport

Perhaps (just to keep things on the straight and narrow) it should have a thread all of it's own.
Perhaps we could do that in rhyme too

We could call it 'The Robbie Bashing Rhyming Thread'

Has a certain ring to it, don't you think

Mallosa......We have a longbow club, situated at the side of the Robin Hood Pub, we obtained the land some 16 yrs ago,and I was a founder member, we shoot on a Sunday which is traditional in archery, and we have a membership of about 60 people some of which go to Field shoots at various clubs around the country where you can get up to 150 Archers shooting in woods with 3D targets of animals. I don't go now, to old! it can be quite hard on the old limbs these days but in the past I did a lot of Field archery.....only target now at our club.

That sounds really good Mike.
That's a coincidence though "The Robin Hood " pub.Or was it planned like that?
I have a colleague who shoots Longbow in Holland. He reckons it's popular over here.
He must shoot on a sunday as well cos he regales us with exciting stories of Archery every monday morning.
I tend to miss it though because i never start work nowadays before 10 o'clock.

Thanks Rob.....As it happened myself and mates who were already archers used the Robin Hood pub, and the the landlord gave us permission to use the ground at the side which in the early days was used for whippet racing, later on we negotiated with the Black Country Ass. and had a loan, etc. so we now own the ground adjacent to the pub. Yes in Holland the English Longbow is very popular and competitions are run here every year with them, and also other countries.

Hi, Petard yes it is popular in France and Belgium it's called Popinjay they used to stick a live bird on a very high pole and shoot at it with arrows that would drop slow to the ground a special shape and fletching...still done in Scotland but with a dummy bird.....and yes it was the two fingers the French chopped off if the Archer was captured.
