The marriage Smith to Jones is as I had found.
Where did you get the full info (Register Office or Registrar Attended Lancashire Liverpool REG_WD/210/105 ) from?

The Frank Smith death is the unknown Frank sharing Mary Ann grave.
As he is only 24, he would have been born in 1915. I suppose he could have been another child (she would have been 42) only she was married to Joseph Jones then. He is a mystery to the relative that holds the grave papers.
For Frank Smiths death I have Dec 1902 From FreeBMD, West Derby which fits.

I didn't realise from the 1861 Census that the Davies lived next door or across the road from each other.

The visitor in 1851 was the best I could find as well.
I couldn't find the 1861 census
I have down Michael Groves death in 1889, West Bromwich.
I found Mary Ann as widow in District Hospital, Edward St. 1891 Census
In 1911 Census she is entered living with her son Isaac at 73 Hargate Lane. Although widowed she said she had been married 36 years with 11 children born 5 of whom died.
I have found a couple of articles on the family. Isaac sounds like a right rouge!

I am still not managing to push the Michael Groves Senior line any further back though.

Good Point!
I have found no other Hendleys in my family. I sort of assumed, as he was listed as a visitor rather than nephew, and there was an 18 year old girl there, that romance may be the connection.
In the 1901 census though my Grandfathers uncle was in the same house as Grandfather and his family but only listed as a border.
It would be worth checking to see if Hendley may have a family connection re his mothers maiden name.
Thanks for the thought.

Is this still a Brickwall, or have you solved it?

Unless otherwise advised this will be moved to the Brickwalls Archived section
