1891 Census
Hmm, actually he's done as Edward, why have I not seen that before.

1891 5 Hagley Road Quinton Worcestershire
Edward Toye 30
Ellen Toye 31
Thomas Toye 7
David Toye 5
Eliza Toye 2

I know there are more than 1 Edwin Toye in the area at that time, one was married to a Sophy, and another to a Florence.

I don't have a marriage certificate, I may try and order one.

Doesn't it say though that Ellen was a widow, and therefore we should be seeking a death certificate?

According to Ancestry they married:

1st quarter 1881

Names present:

Edwin Taye
William Underhill
Ellen Walford
Betsy Wright

I'll do a search for Edwin Taye.

Ok I realise that William Underhill and Betsy Wright were not witnesses, but on the same record sheet.

Ok, let me catch up.

We are now thinking Edwin who married Florence is my Edwin who was married to Ellen? Why do we think they were married in Cornwall? Which by the way has quite a few Toye's living down there.

he was married to an Ellen. No way he would name his kid Ellen, and it can't be his ex-wife. This guy's a right bad apple in my family.
