I agree with Mark and Mike.

Hated Kinnock's changing of policies to "try" and get more votes. And what was all that rubbish about creating a "Women's" Ministry? I'm all for equal rights, so where was the one for the blokes? Now we're stuck with his daughter in law, who seems almost as clueless.

As far as Maggie goes, if she was that bad, she wouldn't have got voted back in once let alone twice!! Not that I agreed with everything she did - that would only utopia!
My sympathies for her family - I suspect they've had a time of it.

You want to ask my daughter what she thought of the poll tax ? , Are we better off now.I do not think so . India owns most of the cars we made , China makes screws that break from cheap metal also made by them. What's happened to GKN , IMI ,and many many more. This is not to do with equality for woman . It does not matter if Thatcher had been a man or a woman . We have very little industry left ,and it is only just starting to come back with firms like JCB and Morgan. My husband worked for Clancys in Halesowen , they shut down because they did car parts ,and we lost our car industry . Mrs Thatcher sold us off .

A question often ignored.

At the time of Thatcher vs the Unions many of them were asking up to 36% pay increases.

The unions were holding the country to ransom with their demands which were recipes for unemployment anyway.

If you could still run the factories and mines at a profit with everybody receiving a reasonable wage, why push to make them unprofitable and ensure less people are employed?

Look at the demands of the miners and tell me that they were in any way, shape or form reasonable and sustainable.

I can remember all of these union bosses driving around in top of the line cars and living in above average houses.

Mark wont disagree about some of the union but the law brough in to curb them as striped away most of the protection a worker had and company now have a free range to say take it or leave there the door if you dont like
And talking about the working man tell it to the families of the 1000 if not the 10,000 of people that
Killed themselves due to her and her goverment polices ask them if its worth spending million on a funeral for her

All Maggie did was replace a country divided by the strength of a handful of Union leaders who mainly lived and paid taxes at high rates in this country with a country divided by the strength of a handful of International impresarios who live offshore and don't pay any taxes anywhere. The fact that we're still arguing about her legacy nearly quarter of a century after she left No 10 goes to show just how divisive her policies were.
No-one since has seriously attempted to heal those divisions, preferring instead to make more and more money by picking at the scab (the media) or endeavouring to gain power by flirting with the small section of the electorate who make a difference come election time (the politicians).

The fact that "The Wicked Witch Is Dead" is your No1 iTunes download says a lot.

I have cousins who were on the front line of the miner's strike and their hate for Thatcher is unbelievable.

I would never try and convince them that Thatcher was good for the country.

The stuff they have been posting on Facebook and sending by e-mail is scary.
