Eel st and Whitehouses they ring a bell but cant see Wm already on Bcc.

So the name she puts on marriage of John Edwards prob made up?
see lots of that in look ups at Parish registers.

would like to see that marriage at Oldbury see if Mary Ann edwards is a spinster with father Joseph

I agree with all that, but the only fly in the ointment is Sarah's marriage certificate that shows her father as John Edwards.

Now it could be that as her father died around when she was born, that she has this wrong (she wasn't literate, signs with her mark on the marriage cert.)

The certificate is dated 16/10/1882 St Michael's Church Handsworth

William Henry Willits Age 25, Bachelor, Paper Hanger, Residence: West Bromwich, Father: John Willits, Brewer
Sarah Edwards Age 22, Spinster, Residence: Handsworth, Father: John Edwards, Miner
Banns W G Garland, Curate
Witnesses: Robert Thompson, Emma Preston

I have seen quite a few where they put anyname for the father so not always true what they write down on certif.
If that is her mother It will be interesting to see if mother is a spinster.

The other thought I have had is that Sarah, would appear to be born 32 years after Mary Ann & Joseph were married, not uncommon, but perhaps Sarah might be the daughter of Mary Ann, b1830, so the original Mary Ann's grand-daughter?

Good fun this!

Yes I think that Sarah is dau of Mary Ann Edwards who marries Wm whitehouse
she prob wasnt married so maybe father made up on certif or maybe John edwards is father but they never married
and Mary Ann b 1830ish is dau of Joseph edwards and Mary ann Grigg

does that sound about right
