Australia had the two current world champs in the BMX.
But then again we had the current world champs in a lot of events....such as archery, shooting, long jump etc etc....
Oz should win the 100m women's hurdles tonight. Probably a world record to go with it.
Should be two gold to Oz in the sailing tomorrow (how can you beat the Brits in 7 races but still only be 4 points ahead?)
Just think of the sports Team GB has improved in compared to the last two Olympics. Impressive.

What you have, and many other countries who have won gold are enjoying, is Australian coaches.
In cycling Wiggins and Pendleton had Shane Sutton as coach and Tim Kerrison has been coaching some of the other medalists. Both lured to the UK with lots more money than the AIS (Australian Institute Of Sport) was willing to pay.
The two women who beat our girl in the sprint finish of the Triathlon are both coached by Aussies.
The young Chinese swimmer Ye Shiwen was coached by one of our senior Olympic coaches in Australia. He got paid $500,000 for each gold she won. She had to beat Aussie girls to win. A bit of a worry when he gets paid a lot of money if somebody he coached just prior to the Olympics beats the girls he is coaching at the Olympics

Another of our senior swim coaches had a similar deal with South Korea and one of their swimmers, Park Tae-Hwan, who won two silver medals.
Another Aussie was the coach of the women Team GB rowers that won the women's pair, double scull and lightweight double sculls whilst we had very poor results.
We can live with them coaching Team GB but another of our senior coaches defected and helped the American women's eight to gold. He should be shot!
I think there are a couple helping your sailors as well.
The vast majority of Aussies are thrilled that Team GB is doing so well and there is very little sour grapes in the media.
The defection of coaches is a sore point.

It used to be the other way round, Oz paid more so all the best coaches went there, funding down under hasn't kept place with elsewhere so all the best coaches follow the money, it's the modern world that we live in; money is king and those that swear allegiance to it and nothing else get well rewarded.

I can understand sportsmen and women going where the money is, as they only have a limited period in which they can earn.
I don't, as far as trainers go - they should have a long run as a trainer - nationality would be a contributory factor for me.

its not just the money though, GB has had increasingly better sports people and medal winners in rowing, cycling and sailing for nearly 20 years and increasing in each championship, so if your a coach and asked to join a team on the up, its professionally a better move.

They get hired because they already have the Olympic or world champions in their bio.
The English rowers were improving but not enough to convince a coach they would be a better prospect than the Aussies or even Kiwis.
Cycling is a different story. The world sat up and noticed GB at he Beijing Olympics and it was always going to be between them and the Aussies in London.
