My fathers mother was Lily Wellings/Black, she was born in December 27, 1877 Elbow Street, Rowley Regis. She married John Jefferson Black December 02 1896 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Lilys father and mother were Levi Wellings born 26 Oct 1852 in Rowley Regis and married 19 May 1872 at the parish of S.Edmund Dudley to Lucy Johnson born 10 Jul 1848 in Dudley. They had asfar as I can find 4 children - Flora Ada - Lily W. - Joseph - William. Joseph and William were born in Pennsylvania but I believe there were more children born in England besides the two girls. Hopefully someone is researching these families too.
The Wellings family seemed to be coaliers and the Johnson family I believe were nailer and chain makers.
Alice

Welcome, Alice ... and it looks like (from the surnames) there must be a whole lot of other Black Country connections. Your joining in should get us going on linking this part of the Tree to the rest. Goody, more puzzles to solve!
I'm sure Northern Lass will be along shortly, to tell you how you can get involved with expanding our big Black Country family.
Cheers, Di

Re: Wellings and Johnson family
Hi Alice welcome to the forum
You made it ok then
Ok I suggest you add your surnames of interest to the surname interest section first off.
Then if you scroll down the board you will see a section called Black Country Genealogy.... put your post in there with what you want to look for, stuck on, chase etc etc.
You already know about the connections tree so you have the link to that.
Any ancestors from other counties please post in the General Section just under the Intros.
So the info you have above we could maybe run with some of it in the Black Country section and help you out
