I am just in the process of going through my tree again and double checking what I have.
I was wondering about citations -- I know they are important but have over the years used various different styles but have never found information giving a definitive "how to give citations"
How does anyone else give citations ?
for births,marriages,deaths?
census?
Other?
Citations

Re: Citations
It's probably just a matter of preference, but this is how I do mine :
http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/fa ... lam-Family
It is only this complete though because I have copied it over from my own Tribal Pages site.
If the marriage is added like this, it only needs to be added once and keeps the front page free for census information.
Have to say though, that I don't add the census like this on other families, it's only because I copied it over, normally, I add the census to just the head of the house.

Re: Citations
Definately a matter of preference, I'm still fine tuning the way I do mine. I'll probably end up with marriage info in citation, as Antie Em says, it only needs to be added once, and the census on for the head on the household.
I think one of the most important things is that the source info, so that it's easy to see where the info came from. This helps other people, but also my memory isn't good enough to remember where I got every little piece of info, and sometimes I need to go back and double check things!

Re: Citations
What is your tree on MG.
Have you put yours on Tribal pages or are you still using another programme?
This is what it says on the familysearch forum

Re: Citations
So far it is on Ancestry but I have just begun reviewing the evidence and checking things as I put it onto Family Historian so I am in control and can't lose it if the web goes down etc
I know I could Gedcom it over but I also know that at times I haven't been as rigorous as I should and this seemed a good opportunity to add some rigour to it all now I seem to have some of the basics sorted.

I've done exactly the same, when putting mine on tribal pages. Everything's been double checked, although I may change how I've recorded some things.
