Hell in a house full of arachnophobics

They say only an 16% increase....I think they left off the zero, its more like 160%

For the last couple of weeks my nerves have been on edge as I wait for the next scream from my daughters or wife.

I now have a spider catcher ready on my desk so I can rush and catch the offending arachnid before it dissapears somewhere in the room.

If that happens I have to spend ages looking for it before the spider spotter will re-enter the room or let me leave.

And I swear the distance I have to go before I am allowed to release the beastie is increasing.

Youngest was complaining when I let one go near the back fence which is the furthest spot from the house.

Interesting thing they said about the Red Back bite. I don't know anybody who has been bitten who wasn't in agony.

If it is hot you never reach under bushes to get a ball.

Not because of the eight legged crawley things.

Its the no legged slithery things!!

I'm glad I don't have to worry about those kind of things! Although I imagine if you grow up with them, it's not so bad!

I have had cats as good as any mongoose.

I was at my youngest brother's house a couple of years ago sitting on the veranda having a few beers and watching his new kitten run around the garden chasing anything that moved.

All cute until a Wedge Tailed Eagle (my favorite animal of any kind!) swooped down, killled the little guy in half a second and flew away with him.

This kitten was a repalcement for a cat he lost a few weeks before to a Tiger Snake bite.

He hasn't owned a cat since.

We had a kitten bring a live snake into the house.... never moved so fast in all my life!!
We have some 'nasties' here in British Columbia... but not as bad as Australia.
I just keep a 'wide berth' of anything with too many legs or no legs at all!

My cat once brought in a wood pigeon - through the cat flap. Didn't know it was there until I went in the kitchen at about 10.00 at night and there it sat in the middle of the floor - only one leg and still alive. I made it comfortable in a box in the shed until I could take it to the PDSA in the morning - but when we got up it had gone.

I can handle most insects, I am the spider and daddy longlegs catcher - I also don't mind snakes (not the ones Mark gets in Oz though), but I hate fish. Our goldfish once jumped out of his bowl and I had to run and get the bloke from next door to pick it up.
There's no place like home ......
