Second season starts next Friday.

I though they did an excellent job in the first season and their line up this year looks good.

Vanessa Williams, Tim McGraw, Kim Cattrall, Rosie O'Donnell, Lionel Ritchie, Steve Buscemi, Gwyneth Paltro and Ashley Judd.

I rechon I can guess the origins of some.

Vanessa's great greats will be Sudanese Africans. That would explain her and her sisters height and strength.

Tim McGraw? Ahhh...probably Scotland.

Rosie will be Irish.

Gwyneth will have English aristocracy.

Cattrall is probably western european.

Judd will be from London.

Yeh, I've seen that episode - she's a scouser, they don't back that far with her, but it's interesting all the same!

I discovered a few days ago that there are quite a few episodes of 'Who Do You think You Are?' on Utube. Great for us because we are in Canada and only get the American ones.. so I was finally able to catch up with the British version of the show... pretty interesting stuff!...I liked the Julia Sawalhia one ( sorry not sure how you spell her name) and the David Suchet one where he met the decendant of the man who had rescued his ancestor from a shipwreck.
Does anyone know any other sites on the internet where you can watch these programmes other than Utube. And have there been any other genealogy programmes on in the UK over the last 7 years or so that we might not have heard of?

Non-Uk IP addresses can't see BBC or ITV programs unfortunately. There are some free downloads that'll help, but they're not legal and I don't know if I'd trust them!!

That's a shame - I thought that because they were on the internet - everyone could see them

Unfortunately not! We can get this not very good BBc channel called BBC Entertainment, which is mostly age old reruns, none of the good stuff. But it's on the most expensive cable subscription, so we don't bother. We did have BBC discovery last month, as a taster but again its part of an expensive subscription and to be honest even though Top Gear is okay once in a while, it get's a bit much every day!

There is talk of the BBC opening iplayer up to other areas, maybe pay per view (hopefully not) or subscription (preferable), but we'll wait and see! Of course the other thing I could do is next time we're buying a pc to buy it in the UK, then it'll ahve the correct IP address!!!
We have an internet radio, whereby we can recieve 1000's and 1000's of radio stations, but not all the BBC ones are available to us, again because of a non UK IP address! We can't get whichever channel the archers is aired on, but we can get the podcasts!!!

However all is not lost, as most of the good drama series do make it here eventually, but I have to keep my eye open for them, as most are on the equivalent to BBC2 and late in the evening!

Some WDYTYA episodes are on Youtube. To be honest I think it is so scripted that it becomes very repetitive.

Yesterday I listened to a podcast off BBC Scotland, called digging up your roots I think. It was quite entertaining but seemed to be people who had written in with some family story that they could have checked out themselves if they wanted - the expert mostly looked at the census and left it there. We do a much better job on here!

I'd agree Gardener, I think we get a good idea of who the people were, not just the names, that's what fascinates me most!

I see you have the same problems with Tv that we do ... we also get a BBC cable channel here in Canada... but it is Top Gear at the same time every day, Graham Norton Show and Jonathan Ross repeated over and over again!.... they rarely show any newer programmes.... though we sometimes get the odd good historical drama showing up on one of the American public broadcast channels.
We visited the UK last summer and found that the TV in the UK has all changed in the 7 years since we lived there too.... I have probably been looking back at UK TV through rose tinted specs..... but the TV here in Canada is TERRIBLE!.... there are commercial breaks every 5-10 minutes ( including the BBC channel!) and the adverts in each break are the same ones over and over again!...this is why we end up researching our family trees on the internet!
