Re: Places to search

Post by stormswift »

If I get chance to pop into the library tonight before it closes I might try and search the 1911 and 1901 census for bk of 115 Alma st. This is where John and Ada where when they married in 1906 according to the marriage cert. I'm hoping they where staying with John's parents and that his parents where still there either 5yrs before or after the marriage so I can catch them on the census. long shot

Library trip was no use. Ancestry didnt have an address search for 1901 census  The 1911 on there looks like an index or something so that was no good either. Oh well
So I'm still no closer to finding the birth cert.

I tried an address search for both 1901 and 1911 but neither gave any name that fitted Tipping or Powell -- sorry -- hopeful someone else has more luck

Thx for the help. Just a little frustrating to be stuck at virtually the first hurdle

The John that is a cycle frame fitter is the birth cert im after. He was born app 1880 and married in 1906 died app 1932. I have the marriage cert. The link I have to find his birth cert is the name of his father on the marriage cert, unfortunately also john henry, his job is described as a bottler.
The John you have found here could fit the bill as father as he would be about 18 at the time, but at the moment there's nothing to suggest a link in what you have found as yet.
Thank you for your efforts

Providing he told the truth the certificate for this would tell you if John Tipping was a widower or batchelor at the time of this marriage.

That looks like the one cid has found just above. States single, not widowed or divorced so perhaps no previous marriage. More than likely a dead end then :(
