Thanks to all for the help!
I think I will be able to contribute some information to the forum as well as receive it.
Several quick questions. Should I post my BC names and family details as suggested by linell on this thread or is another thread more appropriate?
If I find a family link in the bc connections, suggested by sparkstopper, should I point it out here? What should I do with a possible error I found in bc connections? I found several surnames in bc connections that may belong to my family tree, what is the correct way to point it out and gain access to more of the password protected information?

St Giles church is in Rowley Regis

Have any of the towns got small museums? Where I grew up there was one that told about a local tailor turne novelist - thourght there might be others of that type, not very big but interesting all the same!

contact the local Dudley tourist centre and see what they suggest to see
also this site the Dudley Council website

I would think Dudley is the best place to stay at as it is then easy access to all the
villages around

Get Bathams the brewers to show you around the brewery
they must do tours
failing that when you go to Ma pardoes ask the owner to show you around(if he doesn't mind)
he did that for us last time nice guy

Hi Bob,
Welcome!

We stayed in Wolverhampton at a place called 'Barons Court'. It was a cosy place, a lot better on the inside than it appeared from the outside.
Wolverhampton seemed pretty accessible to places we wanted to see in the Black Country. Mind you, it's not far to anywhere in the UK - to those of us accustomed to the wide open spaces :wink:

I hope you're hiring a small car - narrow streets are a bit of a challenge at times.

Thank you for the welcome. I will put the Barons Court on our list. We have a small car with automatic transmission and GPS on order.

If Di has recommended this then I can vouch for it being well placed :wink:

Dudley is up the road from it,
Sedgley
Wolverhampton
Coseley archives

and then further up from Dudley Netherton etc etc

any dates yet Bob?

Northern Lass, yes we set some dates. We fly into Birmingham on Sunday July 17th and fly out of Glascow on the 27th. We have a car rented and are still examining our housing options thanks to the fine people like Di on this forum. We are excited about the trip!
