I have reached a brick wall in my geneology search - can anyone help?
I have been using Scotlands People.gov.uk for my search. I need help, or a kick start to enable me to "prove" my next generation of grandparents. Their son was born in 1764. I have both parents names but can't find birth and marriage dates to enable me to confirm who they are, then consequently their parents.
Can anyone help?
Cliff

A person should have an opinion on everything, It becomes tact whether you reveal that opinion or not.

Re: Brick Wall - Help???
Re my previous request for help, and reply from peterd (thanks) I have detailed additional info to se if anyone can help:
The last grandparent I have "proved" is Donald Mcbeth, born 1764. Its his parents I am having difficulty finding. His father was also called Donald and was married to a Janet Millar, but I cannot find any proof of their marriage or deaths. I have found two Donald Macbeth's who were born within estimated birth range, one in 1715 in Stirling, the other in 1720, in Perth. How do I discover which is my grandfather?
Can anyone give me any pointers??
Thanks
Cliff

dont have much knowlege on scotish record but here goes, have you tried getting a copy of the transcipt from the old parish records for donald mcbeth b 1764 (im asuming you know where he was born?) if you write, or email the nearest archive to his place of birth they will tell you if they hold the records and how much it will cost you for a photo copy (there might be somthing on it) also there might be possibly brothers or sisters within them record, and then i would look in the general area from were donald was born, sorry could help any more maybe someone else on here might have more knowledge on scottish genealogy than me (well that wouldnt take much doing)

Hi Cliff,
Have you seen this marriage on ScotlandsPeople? ...
01/03/1744 MCBEATH DONALD JANET MCBEATH/ M Callander /PERTH 336/ 0020 0055
Having some spare credits, I viewed the image and it says “Donald McBeath and Janet McBeath both in this Parish listed themselves to be proclaimed in order to Marriage, 11th, and being orderly proclaimed were married 1st March.â€Â. If this looks useful,PM me.
Cheers,
Di

Do you know where your Donald junior was born in 1764? Do you know of other children of Donald MCBETH and Janet MILLAR?
