Can anyone help me find when the above lady died, please? I have an idea she passed away round about 1937 but I'm not sure and none of the searches I've done have found her. She was alive in 1934 when her husband died. They were a Birmingham family.

Yes that;s the right family Maths Girl They went on to have quite a large family but it appears neither Nellie nor Alf lived to a ripe old age. Times must have been hard.

I don't know where Alf was in 1911, probably in the pub! He liked a good drink to put it mildy, by all accounts. This is my dad's family and he never talked about them much, if at all. His mum (Nellie) wasn't treated very well by Alf, apparently. I wonder if that is the right person in the army, because Nellie and Alf had lots of children right up to about 1923...? Was it a Birmingham regiment he was in? Mallosa thanks for all that Census info. The only thing I don't understand is where all the children were, it's as if they lived alone. They had children called Marg, Arthur, Winifred, Esme, Nora, John and Reginald to my knowledge, there may have been more that I don't know about. Maybe they were all out playing!

Only those of voting age were on the Electoral Roll, Arthur and Marjorie are there in 1930 but the others must have been too young or had left the family home?

Mally hasn't given you census info but electoral rolls which would were, as they are now, lists of those entitled to vote -- hence no children!
