*Arc pending lk Up*----Marriage cert...no entry in index!!!!

Post by MarkCDodd »

This Daniel Cutler
http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/family-tree/bcconnections/44597/71095/Daniel-Cutler-Family

married Angelina Thomas at St Matthews Church, Harborne on the 29th June 1873 according to a certificate provided by the G.R.O to a Cutler cousin in 2005.

I can't find this marriage in the index.

Anybody else have any more luck.

Can anybody see the St Matthews register entry?

This Daniel Cutler is a shady character who was jailed for stealing pigs later on in life.

Seems to have changed his name to Daniel Corbett after 1881.

Try finding it in the marriage index on Ancestry, Find My Past, The Genealogist, Genes Reunited or FreeBMD.

Since the marriage indexes on Find My Past and The Genealogist were done seperately and released late last year its a worry.

I manually flicked through the index. It isn't there.

I have the certificate it but I don't believe it as the entry does not exist in the index.

Can somebody find it at St Matthews?

There is an Angelina Thomas who gets married in 1873 but that is in St. Austell, Cornwall and its not to a Daniel Cutler.

I've looked through the GRO pages Mark for Daniel, not looked for Angelina, too many Thomas's and it's definitely not there, not even in the next year - so it looks as if it's not such a problem with the indexing, but it doesn't exist in the National Records. Sometimes if someone married at the end of December, it's indexed that year locally, but not until January quarter of the next year in the national records.

It looks as if this entry never made it to the national records - I have known this happen before. My great grandparents were married in a chapel in Wales, and I have their marriage cert, but it definitely doesn't exist on the national records, this also was in the 1870s. Either that or it was written down wrongly from the certificate on to the national records.

Yes please NL. Put it on the Sandwell list.

Makes me wonder about a couple of other marriages I have never found....
