Post by nocky1972 »

Hi there,
could anyone tell me the names of the parents of James Wootton born approx 1777 Staffordshire (Bloxwich area I think). His wife's name was Mary and I believe they were married approx 1802

Many Thanks

Hi there,
many thanks for your replies - do you think that James Wootton was from Cannock or Bloxwich ? certain IGI state Bloxwich. I suppose that Cannock is very near to Bloxwich.
How would I get concrete proof ? Any suggestions ?

I have found on the IGI the following James Wootton's :

James Wootton - 1777 of Bloxwich - Spouse : Mary Wootton
James Wootton - 1781 of Pelsall - Father: William Wootton / Mother: Mary Hickmans
JAMES WOOTTON - 1780 of Cannock - Father: MATTHEW / Mother: MARY

Not sure but The last one listed above is in BLOCK CAPITALS... Does this mean anything as the other two are not.

What does EXTRACTED mean ? Is this a term for an Official document ?

Regards
Simon

A person should have an opinion on everything, It becomes tact whether you reveal that opinion or not.

Hi Jimmy,

thanks for explaining that for me. . . Wasn't sure.

Do you get your info from the IGI indexes or other sources ?

I was considering joining the BMSGH site, is it worth doing so ?

As I mentioned in an earlier thread I have found a few James Wootton's.. Base on my tree going back to the Bloxwich area am I assuming wrong that my James Wootton was from Pelsall or Bloxwich ? Its a tricky game this geneology lark ! Quite frustrating.

Hi Simon,
I do use the IGI, but also any other site I come accross, when you get back to 1800 it is a bit hit and miss, thats when you need to actually go and look at the church records its not all on the IGI. I also use this one,

Hello Linell,
many thanks for checking this out... I will add this to my tree. Its a shame their witnesses were not Wootton's or Colliers, may have has more clues to other relatives. Will do a search for the witnesses from the Bloxwich area to see if they lived nearby

Many thanks

Simon
