I love stew - made with good beef, not fatty, vegetables and pearl barley. Usually make it the day before we eat it - sooooo tasty. Don't like dumplings so we have fresh crusty bread and a nice glass of red wine.
There's no place like home ......

That's the way I like to do it Auntie Em the pearl barley gives it some body , although I like dumplings I prefer the crusty bread with it.

I'm so jealous - I could just eat a plate full of good fat (not skinny) chips (not french fries)! And a nice piece of cod!

Strange, we have on the danish keyboards, with the number three, we press alt gr and 3 at the same time! And then we have some extra letters like Ã"  Ã"¦ Ø just to confuse us foreigners!! :?

It's a bit late now but you should check the weights, sometimes underweight stuff does get through the quality checking process.

Talking of chips reminds me of an ex-girlfriends mother. For reasons not relevant to the story I was staying with them for a few weeks whilst the girlfriend was away at college. Mother was not a good cook so I was quite pleased when she suggested egg and chips for supper, after all, what could she get wrong - overcook the eggs and serve up soggy chips - just like half the pubs I've ever eaten in, and I knew there was a chip pan under the sink full of dripping so I might be able to persuade her to let me look after the chips. So, she pulls out a frying pan, about a third full of very grey looking dripping and puts it on the gas, just as the fat was melted (there were still swirls of unmelted fat in the pan) she cracks four eggs into it, turns off the heat, pulls on her hat and coat and walks out to the chippy. Twenty minutes later she returns with a couple of portions of soggy, oil-fried chips and spoons out the semi-cold, undercooked eggs, wreathed in semi-congealed dripping onto the (cold) plates, empties half a bag of chips over the top and carefully places the plates in front of her husband and myself.
