i believe the twins survived as one is my great great grandfather. someone else making their tree has included him in it and states that he was born in papua new guinea... dont know why or how they think this. i have emailed them but have not yet received a reply. looking forward to that one!
i use ancestry.co.uk, on the 1841 census it states charles an thomas are living in park lane together (wrong pair??) strange that they have the same names average age and same area?
the 1861 census i have says charles lives in Bolsover Street with amelia the lodger and twins. i believe this is true as it states his profession as cordwainer again.
he could very well be the charles merrick dying in islington as thats where my modern family reside. why would someone living in an area and the area close to marylebone and park lane end up living in the victorian east end..? would there be any way of finding out their finances? did things turn for the worse maybe?
was marylebone a prosperous exclusive area back then? clarence gardens etc?
was amelia a popular name back then?
youve all been amazing help
