According to the parish register, the 16th of July 1824 is Jesse's birth date, not his baptism.
There is not record of his baptism.

Jan, the PR says James and Sarah were from Cradley Heath. James was baptised 25.11.1827. The next entry, same baptismal date was for Joseph Smith, then Samuel Smith, all baptised the same day, all from Cradley Heath, could be brothers? Linell.

Re: Can anyone decipher the wits names
I think both surnames end in s'. So it's "........s' Mark".
Would be good to see another B and D for comparison.

Re: Can anyone decipher the wits names
No I don't think so, both names end in an 's.' I think Maggie'e Richards is a good possibility, and the other one is something like Barns or Burns

Re: Can anyone decipher the wits names
Lower name
I think that the 2nd and 3rd letters are like the "ar" in "mark". So that would make it Bar...
After the r is a letter which also appears in the upper name, before the s at the end.
Barton maybe? Doesn't quite fit. Did the same person that wrote this write anything else?
