If you click on Evolving English, down at the bottom is a podcast by David Crystal. He talks for about an hour and then there are Q&A. Lots of interesting stuff about how English has evolved / is evolving.

Thanks for that Kate, I will have a good listen, I am fascinated as to how our Language evolved, from both French and Nordic, did you know that Shakespear had a vocabulary of 14,000 words :?: He obviously didn't visit the BC then. :lol: Linell.
