*Arc tbc* ---Sarah Yardley's parents....

Post by MarkCDodd »

We know from her 2nd wedding that her father is Thomas.

http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/family-tree/bcconnections/37508/72184/Sarah-Yardley-Family

All her census entries point to a birth in Warley Wigorn/Warley Salop/Warley/Brisnall Field (part of Warley Wigorn).

I can find no suitable Halesowen baptism.

However, the Chatwin family her daughter married into all came from the same Warley Wigorn area but were baptised in Smethwick.

So looking for Smethwick baptisms I found this one in an IGI Individual Record.

SARAH YEARDLEY Pedigree
Female

Event(s):
Birth:
Christening:
21 JUN 1812 Smethwick, Stafford, England
Death:
Burial:

Parents:
Father: THOMAS YEARDLEY Family
Mother: ANN

Looking at the source, it looks like the Bishop transcripts for Smethwick were used.

Can anybody find other suitable baptisms and can anybody check the Smethwick one?

Depends on the Parish how much info you get. Some, even in the late 18th and early 19th century, are quite detailed.

All of the non-conformist churches are terrific with detail but a lot of them are yet to be indexed.

There is a non conformist church in George Road, Warley and it has most of my lot in there. A few years ago I sat in Smethwick Archives for ages going through all the Blundell's, Dearne's, Price's, and Fox's. Not any marriages until 1919 - but you could gamble those took place at Christchurch, Quinton. Very detailed entries, it even had a story about the little 3 year old Fox lad who fell down the well in the churchyard. They couldn't get him out, so the well became his grave.
