Hi Everyone from the North of Scotland
Hi everyone. Finally taken the plunge & started to find out more of the family history of my fathers side of the family.
My father had kept his parents birth/wedding and one of their death certificates - which has helped me out so far to start me off.
Looks like this could get addictive, finding out about previous family members.

Hi Miss Highlander,
I hope you enjoy the forum and our company.
If your family are from Scotland the records can be brilliant!
My son in law is from Gairloch up in the Highlands.

Hi Miss Highlander, Welcome to the Forum
A person should have an opinion on everything, It becomes tact whether you reveal that opinion or not.

Thanks for the welcome everyone.
Jo - from what I've found out so far, they are from Scotland - in the Bute/Ayrshire/Renfrew/Glasgow areas. All mainly from the Isle of Bute. And the Scotlands People website I've been using, has been good for finding records.

No expert but have done quite a bit in the areas, not for myself mind

Certificates add up to a good bit of money but I do think Scottish ones prove cheaper and so much more info than others. Good luck and shout if you need any help.
Just be aware the addiction can take over

Hi misshighlander,
Isn't Scotlands People great! I love the fact that you can get copies of certificates and census directly from the site. Wish other countries had that facility.
I have ancestors from the Renfrewshire/Glasgow area too.
Welcome to the forum!
