Huntingdonshire Archives

Ill be going to Huntingdon Archives at some point within the next few weeks.

Here are the records they hold:

Assize Court rolls for 1653, 1660-1688 and 1694
Bishops transcripts of parish registers, 1604 to 1858 (with gaps)
Boards of Guardians: records of Huntingdon, St Ives and St Neots poor law unions and the workhouses they operated, 1835-1930
Borough records of Huntingdon and Godmanchester boroughs, from the 13th century onwards
Burial board records of Eynesbury, Huntingdon, Ramsey, St Ives and St Neots burial boards, 19th-20th centuries
Census enumerators' returns for Huntingdonshire 1841-1901 and for many neighbouring areas too; held on microfilm and microfiche with some printed transcripts
Directories: including Kellys and Post Office directories from the early 19th century to the mid 20th century, and telephone directories
Electoral registers printed from 1832, the post-1868 registers listing voters' addresses
General biographical reference books, county histories, family history journals and local history works
Hearth tax returns for Huntingdonshire for 1666 and 1674 (on microfilm and in transcript)
Land tax assessments, surviving best for the 1780-1832 period
Manorial records including court books, minutes, rentals and terriers
Marriage allegations and bonds for marriages by licence within the Archdeaconry of Huntingdon 1662-1883
Monumental inscriptions transcribed and indexed for many Huntingdonshire parishes
Nonconformist churches including Methodists, Baptists, Congregationalists and Free Church
Parish registers of baptisms, marriages and burials for parishes within the Archdeaconry of Huntingdon, and bishops transcripts, as well as many other parish church records. Transcripts of these registers for many Huntingdonshire parishes and for some Cambridgeshire ones are also available
Photographs and postcards from the early 19th century onwards
Poll books before 1872, giving details on how people voted
Probate records, comprising will registers, inventories, bonds and original wills, up to 1858
Quarter Sessions and Petty Sessions court records
School records including admission registers, punishment books, log books and plans
