Can anyone point me in a direction of where to look to find info on Edward from 1928?

ironically the nearer it gets in time the harder it is to find info because of data protection laws etc.
Ancestry has some phone books for the 1960's onwards and I have tracked names of people down in them but it would only be useful if he lived long enough and had a phone.
You could try talking to your local record office about how to view electoral lists as they might be able to point you in the right direction.

You can view electoral rolls on 192.com going back to about 2005, but it isn't free.
You can view electoral rolls up to quite recently in the archives, but you do have to have the name of a road, and you do have be in the local area.
It's worth getting in touch with the nearest archives to where your relative lived and asking them what records they hold. They may do a search for you, but they will probably charge for the service
