What's the worst that can happen?
Dishwasher conked out!!!!!!!!!!
Stopped halfway through its cycle and then - --------- nothing.
Family on their way - have a good supply of tea towels - could be
a novel Christmas game - Helping with the Washing Up.
I think I'll tell them this was how Christmas was in the Old Days!

You should be so lucky Teifi, we have no water hot or cold
, a major burst that they are now working on and hope to get mended by this afternoon
, so nothing till it comes back on , can't make the dinner, have a shower, get washed, clean my teeth or have a hot drink only wine , brandy and whisky.
and the forum but think I am on my own rambling away.

OMG - whatever happens there's always someone worse off.
Annie I really feel for you, I hope you have a good supply of blankets etc.
the main thing is to try to keep warm.

Hope everything sorts itself out (or gets sorted) quickly - one thing's for sure it'll be a Christmas to remember!

Re: What's the worst that can happen?
At least my crisis over (hopefully)
Eventually disconnected dishwasher and left off for about half an hour,
then plugged back in - a CHRISTMAS MIRACLE - rebooted itself, restarted and
everyone pleased to be excused tea towel duty!
Annie, pleased to see you are reconnected again, what a thing to happen on
today of all days.
Remember a couple of years ago, my neighbour's cooker gave up the ghost -
she didn't mess about, just loaded her car with all the goodies and decamped
to her daughters!

Re: What's the worst that can happen?
Good to hear the crisis is over.
A few years ago my parents had a power cut on Christmas day, which meant no oven, no heating (needed electricity for the pump) etc. Luckily they have a caravan, so my Dad cut the turkey into smaller pieces so some of it would fit in the caravan oven, and everyone sat out in the caravan as it was the only place it was warm. The electricity came back on just before they ate, so thay had dinner in the house. It also meant that they didn't have to forgoe the Christmas pud (no room on the caravan hob to steam it), so that got nuked in the microwave afterwards!
Some of their neighbours were stranded too, as they had planned on filling the car up with petrol on the day and of course there was no power for the petrol pumps locally either! I think their daughter came and fetched them.
They said once the initial panic was over, and they'd worked out how they were going to do dinner it was quite fun, and a Christmas they'll remember for a long time to come!
