Does anyone have access to prisoner records for the transportation ship ganymede or the prison hulk ships.Ive found out from polly that my 3xggrandfather Edward Rowberry was convicted in march 1829 and sent to the ganymede moorded in chatham but am not sure if he was actually transported or just spent time in prison on these ships.Anyone help?

HMS Ganymede 1819-1838 Chatham and Woolwich Ganymede was the French frigate Hébé captured in 1809. She was converted to a prison hulk in 1819 and broken up in 1838.

Thankx for that would explain why he wasnt away for an extended period as he popped up again on a baptism in 1834.

Ancestry have opened a new section covering the Prison Hulks 1802-1849
they stop on the prision hulks then transported on to transporter ship list on ancestry might give you a better clue if he served time or was transported ?

someone might have access and find it for you, where was he convicted, as i think there court lists about, you might find out what he was convicted for and his sentence ?

as far as i know he was convicted in worcester courts in 1829 for stealing fowl not sure how long he was there for.
