Hi,
Im looking for any info on surname Nicholas in the Lancashire, Cambridge, Liverpool area. Im hoping what i have so far is correct, however im very new to all of this.
Supposedly one of our ancestors was a slave trader and i have seen a Richard Nicholas pop up a couple of times with regard to slave trading in Liverpool. I believe he could be the father or grandfather of:
William Nicholas, born 1831 in Downham, Cambridgeshire (father of John)
John Nicholas, born 1859 Haslingdon, Lancashire (father of Frank) married Harriet Moyses
Frank Nicholas, born 1891 Haslingdon, Lancashire

Does anyone know anything of this or any tips for me? Im searching online from Australia.

We have now got as far as William Nicholas born 1806 in Downham Cambridgeshire, married to Elizabeth Brown. We believe this to be a true ancestor...so hard as William and Elizabeth seem to be very popular names back then!
Now I just need to find out his parents for sure.
I have found more info on Richard Nicholas being a captain of a ship and owner of another in the slave trade. Still not sure if this is a direct relative or not.
