Advice on proving your ancestors anyone?
Hi I am new to this. However I have an unusual story (well maybe it isn't unusual). My grandfather who is 83 was adopted. However it is common knowledge amongst our family and the whole village of Aynho (in which my grandfather grew up) that he was the illegitimate son of Lord Birkenhead 1872-1930. Who lived in the next village, Charlton. Lord Birkenhead was the Lord Chancellor and the Secretary of state to India, Winston Churchill's good friend. My Gramp has no doubts of who his father is (and neither do I), the photo's say it all. However we don't know who his mother (my gt grandmother) is. I have read a few autobiographies and have recently ordered a book on the Conservative party which states his mistress, Mona Dunn(he had a vigorous private life), died of peritonitis and FE Smith (Birkenhead)was so distraught he then drank himself to death. I could continue but this is getting rather long. Can anyone advise me of the next step I should take. I would love to get something in writing (proof) for my grandfather before he died. I have lots of info, mainly that he retired from politics the same month my grandfather was born but unfortunately died when he was 2yrs old. Any Ideas?

A person should have an opinion on everything, It becomes tact whether you reveal that opinion or not.
