Anyone see it last nite?
It was interesting they had a Butcher a baker a grocer and ironmonger and they started
off as a trader in the theme of victorian shopkeepers.
The meat was hung outside the shop, the Butcher had a whole pig to sell!
The Baker burnt the bread! and we were given an insight into what they used to
add to the bread to make it go further, sawdust and other bits to bulk the bread
up!
Edwardian period next week!

I watched this programme and thoroughly enjoyed it - I was
really interested in how the different families coped with
the experience of Victorian times. Didn't know that women
were not allowed at the front of the shops and had to stay
in the background all the time (outrageous!).
The blacksmith (ironmonger) was really resourceful making
candles and candle sticks to boost his trade - and did the
grocer ever manage to sell all of the the "biggest cheese in
the world"? And I'm sure the pig must have been going off
by the end of the programme!
On the whole I thought the families entered into the
spirit of the experiment very well and look
forward to the coming episodes

It takes about 1 hour and 1/2 on bus , but they are only every hour from where I live and it's a nightmare driving to Leeds then finding parking so it's bus or train, I really would like to see it though.
