Never seen electoral rolls either but given they are in different wards could they have owned two homes but would only have been able to vote once?

That's how I see it MG

is that address on a junction with corporation street as if a corner house it might be a junction for two different ward enumerator for 1935 decide to play safe and count it in or church rd itselve could be split in to two ward and enumerators overlaped it ?
A person should have an opinion on everything, It becomes tact whether you reveal that opinion or not.

That could be correct Peterd, when I worked as enumerator on last census I came across 2 such examples.

No Pete

1935...Market Hall Ward..Bridgewater...John, P&rcival...147 ........................................366 Church road, Yardley..........CORPORATION STREET
1935...Market Hall Ward..Bridgewater...Mary Elizabeth...147 ........................................366 Church road, Yardley..........CORPORATION STREET

Market Hall Ward is in Birmingham City Centre
Church Road, Yardley is a 30 minute bus ride from there (today)

If you Google 147 Corporation Street and click on Street View, you will see it - perhaps this was where the doctor practiced but Church Road was where he lived?

You say that Kate was probably 25/26 in 1936. The 1911 has a Kate Mitchell aged 1 month, in Birmingham. That could be her, although equally it might not be since her age could be slightly older or younger, called a variation on Katherine, or living in a different area

Still, it would be nice to know the family of that baby Kate - you could perhaps rule her in or out as a possible depending on her parents' occupation.

if you get really lucky then the father of the 1911 baby will match with a marriage in Coventry but it is a long shot.

Hi all thanks for your help,

The Kate Mitchell born in 1911 also dies in 1911 I believe thus ruling her out. I ordered her birth certificate and then was searching deaths when I come across it.
Thanks for the fascinating information about the Bridgewater's it is possible that he wasn't a doctor as this wasn't really confirmed.

I was given permission to access the Dudley Road records at Birimingham Central Library and visited last Thursday,
How ever the records had been through flood and fire damage,
Thankfully I managed to find an entry for Kate Mitchell.

The info was:
Name: Kate Mitchell
Age: 26
Ward: Mty
Admittance: 24/12/1935 (The day she had my nan? :S )
Discharge: 02/01/1936
In the end column there was the word 'hoodville' or possibly 'woodville'. The Column was headed Ledger Folio.
I looked at other people with something in this row and found that they had 'Selly Oak', 'Birmingham Infirmary', 'Oaklands' & 'Yardley South' in I believe maybe hospital transfers???

I am wondering did she have to have a Caesarean and was brought to Dudley Road?
Sadly the book with name and address of next of kin was destroyed :(

Any thoughts much appreciated,
Rach

Further to 266 Church Road, John Percival Bridgwater was my husband's grandfather and himself a successful architect, designing several Methodist Churches that still stand in Birmingham. Donald was his older son and Alan (my late father-in-law - his younger son. Maybe the double entry is explained by the frequent problem of misspelling Bridgwater as Bridgewater - I ended up with two hospital records like that once. Also John Percival must have had bad handwriting to be listed as Solan!

Hi Saranna,

It nice to hear from someone from who has a link, I have sadly had no new developments looking for my Great Grandmother
I have tried everything to find out where she went after the address that the Bridgwater's lived at and have had no luck I often wondered would Donald or Alan have remembered the domestic from their house but sadly I got involved with this too late really.
I think that somewhere out there is the answer to where she went and who she was but sadly I don't think that I'll ever solve it.

Many Thanks for your post,
Rach :-)

Hi All,
Just wanted to say that I found success my Grandparents went to the address on the birth certificate for the child of Azariah Jones and Kate Mitchell aka Urszule Kulizankas (spelling differs) named Ronald Jones. They managed to locate him and asked did he know if his mother had come from Scotland he confirmed she did. He had no idea about my Grandmother but accepted her with open arms he had a sister named Jean who lives in Australia and came over to visit my Grandmother. Jean got in touch with her cousins in Scotland and asked did her mother have a child they never knew about and they confirmed she had confided in her siblings that she had a baby and gave it away in Birmingham.
My Grandmother feels complete and after many years of searching has photos and a brother and sister though they are only half siblings it doesn't matter :)

So finally I know my Great Grandmother was:
Kate Mitchell born Urszule Kulizankas
02 November 1908
Carfin Scotland

Strange to find her parents were married in Poland and were Lithuanian.

Just thought everyone who helped me would like to know. Hope everyone else who has a brick wall case finds such success.
Many Thanks,
Rachel :)
