in 1891 they are living at 24 Lovatt Street, Longton Stoke On Trent, Staffs.

hi and thanks. Jimmy I don't think the Perkins one is the right record, although the ages etc are uncanily alike  , thank you for looking.
Ann Jane was married twice, her maiden name was Lockett (I believe her father was named James), She married a Charles Finney amd after he died she Married william Birks in 1878. Any ideas greatly appreciated :-)

Everything seems to fit Ellie, could the name Perkins have been a transcription error?

Looking at the original record it is clearly written as Perkins. Why would the family call themselves by another name? I admit it is very odd that the ages are close.

I would say after all the years I have been doing this, that it is a perfect match.

I am not saying that William Birks is William Perkins.

Given that William Birks is said my Ellie to have died in 1899 we would not expect him to be on the 1901 census.

The face that a widow with that many children would be with another man less than two years later is nothing surprising -- married or not.
