You can buy Windows 7 - absolutely brilliant. It has been said that Vista was on a par with Millennium platform. Apparently, Microsoft didn't do enough checks before they released it - or so I heard, from a very good source. I had a new computer last year from Comet, which had Vista as a platform, but they promised I could get Windows 7 free when it was released the following October. So, for the couple of months I had Vista - I couldn't use Ancestry - without the rigmarol of saving it to an external drive. Windows 7 is really good I would thoroughly recommend it.
Thank you for the links Jimmy , I can't believe you can download it free thou, now the other link as got lots of different version of Window 7 so my next question is which is the best version, and was it easy to instal Auntie Em or did you get some one to do it for you.
I thought there was only one version - there is probably one for networking which is used in companies - but you won't want that one. You will probably need the Home Premium Full Verson. I loaded it myself - just inserted the disc and away it went - never even had to phone my son for assistance. It didn't interfere with anything I had saved onto the hard drive - but it's probably best to copy everything on to a portable drive first - just in case. It does ask you to back up onto a CD before you start - took 13 CD's but my son said I could have used just one DVD. Good Luck
