Murphy Riots

Can anybody recommend a good book, website, article on the Murphy Riots that occured in West Bromwich and Birmingham in June 1867?

William Murphy was an anti-catholic bigot who toured the country stirring up hatred against the Catholic Church.

Inevitably his speeches would appeal to those who needed somebody to blame for their miserable life and attacks on Catholics and their busiess and churches occured in just about every county.

His hatred only ended in 1871 after a group of fed up Catholic miners almost beat him to death.

The sympathy for this purveyor of hate is sickening when you read the articles reporting the event.
