The Joseph we have linked to this family I admit is not strong
we have linked based on that name Ragan
but how do we know that your Joseph you mention is the son of that Joseph and Mary and not ours?

I have a horrible feeling that this is them

1841
New Street RR
Joseph Priest 30 nail maker
Elizabeth ditto 30
Sarah ditto 6
Mary ?A ditto 4
Eliza ditto 1

all born in county.

No family to fit them in 1851, they fit the Hacketts apart from the name

If this helps anyone, they had a son called Joseph, born 1810/1811 who married Elizabeth (born 1812 in Rowley Regis, married 1835). They are:
Mary Ann, born 1827
Samuel born 1852
Eliza born 1840
John (my great, grandfather), born 1843
Hannah, born 1847

Joseph died in 1898, Dudley and in the 1891 census he is living at 4, Halesowen Road, Old Hill, Rowley Regis.

I have found Joseph's father Joseph, the current person of my interest, who I thought was born 1770, on the 1841 census, living Garratt's Lane, Rowley Regis and could have been born in 1769. Living with Mary, aged 70 and Ragan Parsons, Thomas Hackett. But I'm at a dead end now with this and can't find any way backwards or any more information on Joseph and Mary. I've also tried parish records and the IGI register but no luck. I don't know if you have any ideas? Thanks. Jane

Jane have you got the birth certif for any of the kids above?
we could do with the maiden name of that Elizabeth

that lot that Gardener found do seem to match the ones in 1851
so Joseph could be a Priest?

regarding this topic been in convo with Jane

think that this is her John Hackett
http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tr ... =780369030

links to mumbles too

this is the line then down to Jane
http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tr ... =529474639

so I am sending for that marriage in 1866 to Jessie to cf father is deffo Edward
but as Mumbles says it all fits re area living for Edward and John Surfiet hill and occup of both furnaceman

that other family seem to be a different family Hacketts in 1851/Priests 1841

Changed my mind not sending for this certif
Mumbles has pointed out that on the 1871 John and Jessie are living next door to Edward Hackett and wife Ann and next door
to Edward is other son James and his family

so I am good with it
but that is only what I think
so saving meself some dosh!
