Hi
Could any one help me please Benjamin Grainger went to America on the 25th August 1909 on the Caronia from Liverpool his destination was Rend City Illonios,it was stated that he was joining his nephew George Grainger, It looks like he never returned to England

I dont know where you got that Peter?
Benjamin was 40 on the passenger list, a miner and I think it says his mother is Eliza Green from Spennymoor, cant read the street, 16 ?ededale

No family with him Peter and it also says George Grainger a friend.
I did notice below the name a William Blakey 31 a miner, from Spennymoor too, was also going to stay with George Grainger. His next of kin was wife, Mary E Blake, pressume it must be Blakey? He was living, 177 Jackson Street.
I'll just look for 1911

Great Great Grandfather Benjamin Grainger Born 1868 in Dudley, Emigrated to America in 1909 destination Rend city Illinois. The following information is about his son

Born Died

Ernest Grainger 23/2/1898 -- 17/7/1973 aged 75

Married St Charles Tudhoe 8/9/1917
Mary Ellen Hughes 30/4/1899 -- 31/3/1969 aged 69

They had the following family

Son Ernest Grainger 04/3/1920 -- 24/3/1990 aged 70 (my Father)
Son John Grainger 06/2/1924 -- 22/10/1998 aged 73
Daughter Agnes Grainger 22/12/1928 -- 11/6/2006 aged 77


I have spoken to other relatives it seems that he went to America with the intention of sending for his family later although there is no one to verify this.
