After his wife Racheal dies in a house fire (she knocked over an oil lamp which set her clothes and the room alight) I think he married again.

I think this is him and his second wife, Mary, and his father in 1901.

Trouble is, I can find no marriage for Joseph and Mary between 1893 and 1901.

I can't find them together in 1911.

First wedding is on BCC and his father is John.

Remember we were wondering why Rachel used the name Pain?

Smethwick Archives said this was a habit from Christ Church Oldbury.

The Vicar handed the paperwork over a 3rd party to fill in the details for registration.

If they could not read the marraige register they subsitituted "Pain" for the surname.

They were going to get the Bishop of Lichfield to provide the church register so they could correct all the "Pain" marriages.

I think the marriage to Mary Fidler looks good...but I think she didn;t make it to 1911.

I beleive he married again and this is him in 1911.
