Ann Fownes

Post by Uncle_Ben »

To original posters/ responders,

I can confirm that a search of the Rowley register on CD shows no record of any type for Ann Fones or Fownes anywhere in the register (which is not complete, but covers the period involved). Ann was definately baptised in Halesowen.

Hi UB, she may have been christened at Halesowen. A lot of RR people were christened at St John's Halesowen. Having said that and having a good look at it, I think she could well have been born Cradley, as you know Cradley came under Halesowen then. She and James Hingley I believe lived in the Corngreaves area, which is on the boarder of the two places. Linell.

Just want to add that I found a Sarah Fownes listed in the Cradley House Survey of 1782.

Linell,

But you originally said "...she was born Rowley Regis though not Halesowen".

This is the comment that I was responding to.

Does this end the matter?

PS

She was buried 4 March 1821 at Park Lane Chapel, Cradley.

I will split and archive this thread in a min
but before I do thanks to all for the input we have through discussion sorted
out Ann Fownes on BCC which is great, nothing is ever set in concrete and it is
good to all get our heads together and add to the tree.

However I must just flag up that the 8th of August as the bapt for ann is incorrect
it is the 3rd.
I have looked it up at the archives today and it says this

Ann dau of William and Sarah Fones of Cradley bapt ye same

now the `ye same` refers to the date of the 3rd August above this entry

I have added that to BCC now

so this is now completed with thanks
