Cookers or eaters

Post by Northern Lass »

How do I tell?

I have an apple tree and this year the fruit yield is amazing
got 2 apples!!

anyway how do I know if they are cookers or eaters.

Used to have at old house 3 wonderful baking apple trees, and no way could you eat one of those
( not the tree the apple) tooooooooooooooo bitter.

but this one I just don't know.

how do I tell :?

Have a bite out of one  Cooking apples are a bit larger than the average eating apple , well they are in the shops. No cooking apples on ours it's only been in a few months.

We have 12 Apples on our tree it's a Cox we know because we left the label on, and the Victoria plum tree gone mad we have given about 15 Lbs away can't keep up with eating them.

I have eaten one and it was ok bit tart .....bit like a braeburn...which I think they might be
and I have baked a pie with them and it was awful and I make a nice pie!
so I don't think they are bakers
