That is the same building as in Uncle bens photo! to the left it is isnt it Jimmy.
So if that arched monument was in the same place as the clock tower is now
and if that monument has arches on all 4 sides it could be looking down the High street
and our 3 walkers on the prom in front of the monument

Yep! It is Rhyl!!

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=5617

The Monument is arched on all sides
It was where the clock tower now is at the end of the High Street...see this old photo

And...all the buildings match
the one to the left the store is here
http://www.francisfrith.com/rhyl/photos ... 55_R27237/

and the lampost on the right of Uncle bens photo and that building match the building on the left at the top here

And taken from this website ...
http://rhyl-life.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html

it says....

"Facing the top of the street in a position where today we would expect to see the clock tower, is a drinking-water fountain on the promenade."

Thanks for all the clues, leads and links.

I can now confirm, thanks to Colin Jones of the Rhyll blog, that the arch was the Conway memorial water fountain, which was located a few yards away from the Clock Tower.

That sounds fair. Much fairer than us having to share the original £5.

The only old photograph I have with me at the moment is a bit too obvious for it to be posted here for identification I'm afraid though NL, so you will have to find someone else to provide the next task :p
