Would you not be best getting that marrige certificate first RR?

Stockton will probably check if they have that one you have given them for Robert Henry Wilkinson b 1889 birth
but until you know who the father is you are not 100% that that one in Sept qtr (think it was) is yours!

Up to you but I would get that marriage find the father and then order the birth certif
in the meantime I would look on the 1911 and see if I can find a likely Robert or ask for a look up.

I think the marriage cert is the best place to go first. Use the ref number from the local bmd if you are going through the local office.
Dont forget if you do want someone to look up something just add it to the general section, you will get lots of help from people on here.
You will soon get the nack!
Good luck,
Jo :)

RR

You are doing really well -- it does take time to take it all in and start spotting the patterns.

I don't think you have said yet whether you are just using free sites or whether you have access to other search areas eg Ancestry etc -- They all work slightly differently so if you need help to get started as Jo says just ask -- we won't do it for you (unless you specifically ask) but give you hints so you can see how our thinking goes.

Having said that I suspect we all think about it in a different way which is why the forum is so good because "many heads make light work" and watching someone else's train of thought helps your own develop.

Happy Hunting

Hi maths Girl /granger
thanks for all your help, i dont belong to any website ie ancestry, feeling my way around at the moment. it is comforting to know people will help, however i do take your point of trying to do this myself, the thing is iv always wanted to know who my grandfathers, father and mother were? its a piece of the jigsaw that got me started if i could cheat just the once and ask for help on that one, although i know the mar cert will tell me, but patience was never my strong point, but the thing im learning very quickly is, is that it neads to be lol. (Robert H wilkinson d.o.b.1889 stockton) H is for henry.if any one feels desposed to help, if not i will get my impatients under control and wait

regards to everyone (RR)

Hi RR if you want to know that then just put a post in GEneral discussion and I am sure the info will be
presented on census etc
but until you get that marriage you won't know for sure
this section is to show you how
so if you can't wait.....then post in Gen discussion what you want to know specifically and see what emerges
