Victorian Pharmacist

Post by Northern Lass »

this was on last nite on bbc 2
I only watched some of it cos Corrie was on

it was ok what I watched, but I wondered where it was filmed
cos it wasn't the Black Country museum even though they had a big Bank's sign on a wall there.

They used earthworms to treat a bruise
and the cough remedy sounded fab!
opium and something else!!
oh yeah Chloraform

anyone see it?

It might be Annie I can't work those things :(

can you imagine cough medicine with opium in
I had Pethedine on drip at the hospital when I had an op
and it was fab!
they gave me that to shut me up
think it was after the ward rebellion I organised
but that is another story!

It was filmed at Blists Hill in Telford Shropshire, the Victorian Farm was filmed not far off at Acton Scott Victorian Farm museum between Much Wenlock and Church Stretton.I've been to Acton Scott but not Blists Hill,it's supposed to be good though, worth a trip. The farm is lovely and peaceful,my daughter fed the lambs and all that, the old bloke, lord Acton(or Scott?!) seems a right character, keeping things as they were.

The Victorian Farm is lovely also , how nice when you live near enough to visit these places yourself.

Same here NL. Loved the Victorian Farm though. Must go back and visit Blists Hill as it's been years since we last went, seems to be so many shops added now.

We were supposed to be going, only someone (not me) was ill, so we didn't get to Ironbridge until late afternoon, so there was only really time for Coalbrookdale (wouldn't mind one of their garden benches)!
The day after we went to RAF Cosford cos someone (again not me) would rather see old planes than old buildings. It was still a good day out though, and we only had to pay for the parking!
