*Completed* -Wild, While, White. I'm going crazy

Post by Silver surfer »

I volunteered to find a family in the censuses but have had a lot of trouble. Did eventually find the name John White 30 in 1901 with wife Sarah at Dudley Port Tipton. Right family, wrong transcription, looking for variants of Whyle or Wyld. Eventually found John in 1891 with parents Henry WHILE and Betsy still at Dudley Port and Henry etc born Tipton. Couldn't find him in 1881 till I walked the streets of Dudley Port on the LDS 1881 site. There he was, now Henry WILD 42 (like me by now  wild I mean not 42) at 66 Dudley Port but now saying he was born at Derby.

Found a marriage between Henry WYLD and Elizabeth Coats 22 Feb 1858 All Saints Sedgley so they should be in 1861 and 71 censuses prob in that area. Can't find them on Griffs4bears in 1861. ANY VOLUNTEERS. PLEASE?

Also found ref to Henry WILD 64 born Green Lane Derby living at Tipton in 1901 if someone could get me the details please.

Thanks

Looking good FS. 1881 has son Joseph 20 so that matches. Presume Abraham and Sarah Jane are some relation of Henrys. Brother and sister in law? There is a son Henry 5 in 1881 so presume the other one who was 6 in 1871 died.

Thanks so much for looking. Wish they'd keep to same spelling or not make the 'l' look like a 't'.

Could that address in 1861 be Greets Green, which is not far from Dudley Port. Now can anyone find Henry in 1841-51 censuses please? Possible brother Abraham. May be in Green Lane Derby at that time.

Thanks

1851
Dudley Port
Joseph (Manes), head,46?,miner,Kates Hill
Mary ditto,?, 19,ditto
Henry ditto,son,15,ditto
Abraham ditto,13,ditto
Pheobe Wild,dau,6,Tipton
Sarah ditto,4,ditto

Manes is the transcribed name but it is some version of Wild. Not sure about Mary's status. looks like Menu ! Would be good if someone else had a look at it. Phoebe and Sarah are on teh next page so their surname is clearer.

Great work folks. I would never have found them. So it looks like Joseph's wife was elsewhere then in 1851.

Managed to look at that 1861 census and it does say 'green grocer'. On the same page is 'shop keeper' and private (house). Thanks again.
