I have been searching for Charles William Vaughan c1890,
I have his marriage certificate which states he is 30 in 1920 when he married
Violet Pritchard nee Jones, he was a bachelor and she was a widow they married and lived in West Bromwich
I was thrown off the scent a bit when I found someone with the same name in my home town born in 1888! :? :?
but my Grandfather Charles was Irish from County Cork and this man is not! :o
I have spoken to the ex wife of his son (my uncle) who confirms she was told that my grandad was Irish too.
My father was in the Royal Irish Rifles when in the war,
I believe he was in this regiment was because of his Irish connection as he was born in West Bromwich
unfortunately to make matters worse both of these men are named after their own father Charles Vaughan!!! :? :?
so now I have a brick wall to conquer :( :(

Charles William Vaughan was the father of Denis Arthur my father 1925, also Raymond, Hilda, Ethel Vaughan
and the step father to Violets previous children Laura and Leonard Prithcard

I am new to ancestry and would appreciate some help with Irish records to find him
now that I know for certain that he is not the other man! 8) 8) :-) :-)

thanks
Teresa

Teresa
Do you know when the family left Ireland and whether they went straight to the West Midlands?
Just wondering when the changeover came from Irish records to English

Thank You Jimmy, thats the marriage cert I purchased last week

I dont know anything about when the family or even Charles himself moved to England
the only detail I know is that County Cork was mentioned
and his fathers name is also Charles
which suggests that my grandad was the first son as he took his fathers name

thanks for asking

Thank You Jimmy

I found these too and believe its a different family
theres a couple of problems

* the birth of this Charles Vaughan is 1888
* the father of this family is stated as born in staffordshire!

* also i have been in contact with someone who saved this Charles on their tree
and they said they believe his marriage to my grandmother was his 2nd marriage
but on his marriage cert he says bachelor!

I just dont know how to get around this one way or another

I know he is buried in heath lane cemetery West Bromwich but there's no stone
so I cant get a date of birth from his grave

how do I move forward? or backward!!!!
thanks for your help

dont always believe what you see in census and other people trees use them as guide lines

father store keeper in 1920 the census above could well be charles srn and jr as he working in a tube works and poss his son followed in his step

when charles srn got older poss couldnt manager the job hence storekeeper ?

anyone find the 1911 census please

if charles was 30 when marries then he could of been 31 in the same year c 1889

the charles in the census is 2 c 1889

when did charles get married and who were his witnesses ? and not always census age is correct

if it was his 2nd marriage and his first wife left him then he wouldnt abe to afford a divorce he not going to put married or widow on his aplication as his new wife would ask question ?
